Biography
An architect based in Washington, D.C., Vogt undoubtedly met Portner through the German communities of Alexandria and Washington.  The young architect was hired by Portner to work on a number of projects, including some buildings and renovations at his Alexandria brewery and to design his new summer home in Manassas.  In 1907, Vogt was hired to design a new Masonic Hall in Manassas, which Portner had left money for in his will.
